On our last visit to Vietnam we used the Metropole as an entry and exit hotel. The hotel has a good dining room, small but adequate gym and a swimming pool. The business centre was again small but adequate. The staff were very friendly and helpful.In some areas the decor is looking a little tired, but in general the building is well maintained.The location is good for access to the markets,city and night-life.
All facilities required are in this hotel
The trip to and from the hotel is a bit of a nightmare,but so is the rest of road travel in HCM City.

nice appearance when you first arrive, has a big receiption area and the staff was so helpful.I think the best thing of all was the breakfast,they changed the menu everyday so you did not get the same same,and the food was magnificent.we chose this hotel mainly because it had a pool,we have been to Ho chi minh before and you have to have a pool and this was also well set out.I had a sauna and a massage daily and they were very proffesional,I would stay here again

no free internet and shower had no pressure
- Travel tip : Watch for pick pockets between the markets and the Rex hotel.A motorbike bumped into my left leg on the footpath not enough to hurt me but to distract me his friend went for my wallet in my right pocketgot it out but I grabbed his hand and shook my wallet loose.

I have stayed at the Metropole on 3 occasions now - the rooms have been upgraded and are comfortable. Baths are OK sized but sink arrangement is a little cramped. Location is good and near many bars and restaurants of what was the backpacker area but is now a general tourist hangout. Make sure that you have the address as taxis from airport sometimes find it a little hard to find if they don't know it. it is easy to find food around the hotel. there is a convenience store right next door which is useful for quick items.
