I enjoyed the stay from the time I walked into the hotel. I arrived late, but fair bit people were still at hotel and brought my luggage to my room with care. The breakfast was very tasty and included of course. The room I got was spacious and had good size bath room. There is a roof top and I enjoyed it there.
employees are all nice, and room was very clean.

- Hotel Feature Tip : just take a cab and everything is so close. cabs are so cheap anyway.

My wife and I loved the Empress. It's actually within easy walking distance of the market and the staff is professional and courteous. You can bargain a bit regarding internet access -I paid $4 a day for five days of internet, which was fine by me. The restaurant serves pretty good breakfasts and their crab soup is fantastic. There's a great Supermarket at the end of the street stocked with everything you could need and a kind of makeshift convenience store about fifty feet from the hotel where you can get a late night snack (try the sweet rice cakes).
The staff is excellent -- very friendly. Befriend the bellmen. They speak the best English of the staff and can get you anything you need from a sim card to a recommendation for a restaurant or dance club. The bellmen are all great at the Empress, tip them generously because they don’t make much!
There was little we disliked. This is an inexpensive hotel, so the occasional cockroach in the shower is to be expected. If that turns you off completely then maybe Vietnam isn't the place for you, as you won't get an antiseptic tourist experience here.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Definitely eat at the night market. The seafood is great! Also, for an unusual experience, take an introductory Vietnamese cooking class at the Mai Home Saigon Culinary Center. You can book it through Happy Tours. This was the highlight of our trip. We also loved the Mekong River tour that you can book through the hotel.

Service to rooms, and english speaking staff. Above average service since they had students, many to and fro questions.
