Sala Samui is a gorgeous hotel with a great beach and a wonderful staff. There is construction going on all around it, but it is designed such that you are isolated from the construction without ever feeling caged in or anything. The one beef we had with the hotel is the mosquitoes. It is the tropic, so I suppose bugs are a given, there should be some way to keep the mosquitoes away while you are sleeping (a nice bed canopy perhaps?).

- Restaurant Tip : There is a woman that sells really good authentic local food on the street in the town right by the hotel. Find her and enjoy!

I liked the hotel but thought it was very overpriced even by European standards. We paid €174 per night for a regular balconcy room and this didn't even include breakfast. Ancillary services are also overpriced. The hotel is nice and clean and professional with lots of staff. The noise from the building site next door & wild dogs on the beach made it a little difficult to relax there.
