We were a bit apprehensive when we first pulled up, the front of the hotel is a little ugly with low hanging power lines and ugly neighbors. They would definitely benefit from an added side facade to cover the tin from next door. There was also construction across the street and in the hotel itself. We were worried about the noise, but once got to our room it was not an issue even when you're outside enjoying the pool. The lobby is designed challenged to say the least. The odd 60's modern furniture mixed in with traditional Thai architecture is certainly not a good look. Smooth check in with welcome drink and cool towel. We had the hydro pool room which is cutely designed with a king size bed and daybed. There is a flat screen TV and ipod docking station. Not large, but enough room to get around. Two bottles of complimentary water and stocked mini bar. The closet could definitely use a dresser or drawers. I personally hate stacking all my clothes out on one shelf. The shower was a little odd at first directly in front of the toilet with only the cloth curtain separating it. Nice rain shower head though. You had the option to open the door and shower with fresh air and a view of your pool. You may have to be a bit of an exhibitionist though, because the other rooms on the second floor may get a peek. My husband and I made the mistake of swimming u'natural thinking we were alone. But he caught two naughty girls taking photos from their balcony! Can't really prove they were taking photos of us but I found it just rude and creepy. We absolutely loved our backyard with excellent pool with jets, relaxing daybed and table with umbrella.
The buffet breakfast was great, lots of choices and fresh omelet and roti station..yum. The waitstaff were always eager to please. Not the best English but if they didn't understand they would find someone that could. Always plenty of staff too. There was six waiters in the bar during slow lunch time.
Stayed in a great hydro pool suite, loved the pool and open door option for the shower. Nice fresh flowers daily. Nice restaurant!
Could use some fresh paint and better English.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Blue planet dive center..excellent!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Pavillion. It is in a very nice part of Lamai Beach and is away from the busy part of town, but in walking distance of it. The hotel is very nice and well appointed, the only thing I can think of that might put some people off is that it does need a coat of paint in places and shows it's age at times.
The bar on the beach is very nice and the young girl who works there is very friendly and always up for a chat when she's not turning out cocktails.
Good service and ameneties. Details were paid attention to. Location is very good.
This is not a brand new hotel and needs a coat of paint in places, not that it's a big deal to me.
- Hotel Feature Tip : Get in early to get a sunbed, or somebody will reserve it by putting a towel on it. You may not see them for hours, but if there is a towel on it-it's theirs!

Don't get fooled by the agents waiting at Samui airport who try to get you into their taxis - walk a little further and get into a yellow and red meter taxi. The airport limo service will charge you double what the meter taxis will charge.
Lamai itself is charmless. Every other step along the main Lamai strip involves getting hassled by either someone who wants to give you a massage, wants you to go to their bar, or buy a suit. It gets very tiresome being asked "what country are you from?" everytime you pass a tailorshop.
Yes, I did read the guidebooks about Lamai, but I did not expect this. Even the European resort cesspits of aren't as bad as this (and yes, I've been to them in my youth). Although the hotel itself was fine, if I went to Samui again, I would choose a different location.
