Amazing hotel. Seemed quite new. Loved the pools and the deluxe rooms. The weather during November is definitely not the best (it has rained everyday). Breakfast has everything under the sun from waffles and pancakes to fried noodles. It does take a long time to walk to town but taxi is only 100 baht. Its also good to be at the end of Chaweng as its quieter.

• Shopping Tip : Go see John at "Famous Armani Suits" down the other end of Chaweng opposite Chwaeng resort. We had a good shop around for suits and this guy was the cheapest and the nicest guy in town.

A Lovely Hotel with Very Few ProblemsGuest Rating: 4.5

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay 4 nights at Kandaburi Resort. Of course the weather in Southern Thailand isn't the best in October/November, but frankly the comfortable rooms made up for that fact. The decor in the rooms and common areas is a very tasteful blend of Thai and modern aesthetics with high quality finishings. I often see places which fall short of the mark, but Kandaburi is actually very pleasant. The swimming pools are lovely, especially the one nearest to the beach. Bubble jets, statues of mythical Thai beasts and frangipani trees help raise our experience there above the mundane. From the hotel to the main strip, it's about 2km and the hotel does offer free shuttles a few times a day, which seems quite generous. As for the area around Kandaburi, it's a fair bit more relaxed than the hectic pace of central Chaweng Beach which is a nice relief at the end of a busy day. Chaweng Beach is usually kept clean and the sand is nice for sunning or playing. Compared to other beaches in Thailand, it has very few jetskis and other motorized water craft. A true blessing. The only drawback about the beach itself is the it stays quite shallow for a long distance from the shore.

Classy, well appointed rooms surrounding lush gardens make Kandaburi a very pleasurable place to stay. However, as another reviewer mentioned, the bathrooms are truly palatial and might be my favorite part of the rooms. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was always a pleasure as well.

The one time we tried to order room service, it was a minor disaster. I speak Thai, my partner is Thai, and yet we still couldn't get what we wanted. Not only that, we got things didn't order. It ended up as an very frustrating and expensive meal which left us unsatisfied. The beach at Chaweng is not the best for swimming, but we can't fault the hotel for that.

This was our first trip to Koh Samui. We needed to find somewhere to stay for 5 nights after treating ourselves to a 5 star resort for the first 3 days of our trip. We walked next door and found this hotel with its beautiful pool and friendly service. We looked up this hotel and got it for a ridiculously cheap price which included breakfast. The rooms were huge, the staff were friendly and helpful, the pools were big and beautiful and very easy to spend the day by. The hotel was only a short walk from the main beach and shopping area and had everything we needed. we would definitely stay here again for that price and would recommend it to friends.

• Restaurant Tip : The food standard at breakfast was fantastic. When we ate by the pool the food again was priced fairly for a 4 star hotel. The local food available from the streets was a quarter of the price and just a good. If you are game enough to eat the authentic street food, I say go for it. Yummy and so, so cheap. Wait for the happy hours to drink. almost every bar and hotel will have them from as early as midday.
