The Areca Lodge is a well-situated hotel, and despite the location near many bars, it was quiet. The staff was consistently helpful, and the stay would have been very pleasant but for the negative factors:
1. The room was NOT a "deluxe" room as the booking promised, but merely a "superior" room (as the sign on the door said.)
2. There was no double bed as booked, but two singles pushed together.
3. The "Pool view" as promised was only if you stood on the balcony and looked six floors down; the real view from the room was of a large construction site -- one of two that are currently under way right next door to the hotel. There is a lot of noise, commencing at 7 a.m.
This will possibly be a nice hotel and good value when the nearby construction is completed, but for the next year it should be avoided.
Large room and friendly staff.

Basically, I enjoyed my stay at Areca Lodge. However, the area get flooded easily when it rains.
It have two very nice swimming pools but I was unable to use it due to the rainy weather and I must say that the gym is pretty good.
Overall it was an enjoyable stay.

Areca Hotel is a lovely place to stay. Breakfast in the morning is great, the swimming pools fantastic and not a bad gym. Plenty of places for a cold beer near the hotel. Although a bit of a walk to the main drag, no problems there as there are plenty of pit stops on the way

Little jaunt to walking street
