We stayed for three nights at the Raming Lodge in Chiang Mai before traveling to a resort in another location. We found we enjoyed the Raming Lodge so well, that we made another reservation for another night. It was in a great area to walk to the Night Market, several restaurants, massage parlors, 7-11 store, and much shopping. The rooms at the Raming Lodge were very comfortable decorated in the Asian decor. We had a deluxe room which included a lovely bowl of fruit, a complimentary mini-bar which included sodas and bottled water. All the beverages were chilled in the mini-refrigerator. The layout of the Raming Lodge is very unique with each floor overlooking the central garden/restaurant area. The employees were very accommodating and helpful also. We would highly recommend the Raming Lodge to anyone going to Chiang Mai, Thailand.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Raming Lodge (Chiang Mai) as the location was central to walking to Night Market, several restaurants, massage parlors, 7-11 store, and shopping area. The hotel was clean, had a great selection of foods for breakfast, and received a nice bowl of fruit with our deluxe accommodations.

The beds were not as soft as we experience in the United States due to the fact that box springs are replaced with hard platforms.

  • Nightlife Tip : This hotel in within walking distance of the Night Market which has anything and everything you'd like to buy in Thailand.

Not bad, but we wouldn't returnGuest Rating: 4.0

Traveling to the hotel from the Airport was simple as the hotel is obviously well known and the taxi drivers know exactly how to get there. Check in was friendly and well organised, we had made the booking the day before we arrived and had requested a double bed, this was not available on the day we arrived (fair enough) so we spent the first night in a twin room and moved to a double the next morning. The rooms are all tiled and the doors open onto a covered walkway which is also tiled, this means there is a lot of noise as people are walking around and when people are talking or shouting outside, the noise tends to echo throughout the property. We had to make repeated calls to reception to ask them to stop the people in the next room from singing at the tops of their voices at 2am on the 2nd night. Also when someone drags a chair across the floor in the room above, it feels and sounds like they are in the same room. Breakfast was OK for filling up if making an early start and going on a day trip, otherwise it's better to eat outside of the hotel and sample some real Thai food (the highlight of a holiday in Thailand for us). The Spa was nice, the rooms are well setup and the the treatments we had were well executed. Prices were quite high, but we enjoyed our time there. Being lazy, we used the hotel laundry service, which was a mistake. Prices were over the top and the last set of clothes that we sent came back still dirty - they had obviously been washed, just not very well. Hopefully the review doesn't sound too negative, after all this is a budget hotel. We stayed for about a week and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Chiang Mai. Next time though, we'll spend a bit more money and stay somewhere a little nicer.

Staff were generally friendly and extremely helpful. Free fruits and drinks in room were a nice touch. Free wireless internet. Spa was very nice (although expensive). Room and the whole of the hotel is well maintained and very clean.

Room was dark and soundproofing was non-existent. AC was a bit weak. Shower was unpredictable. Laundry was expensive and poor.
