From the moment of checking in my wife and I were wisked to the 15th floor. Unlike some hotels in Thailand my wife's ID was not asked for, as she is Thai, it implies certain conotations which I dislike, she was accepted as my wife, and the staff only wanted my details, ie credit card etc. The staff were always on hand whenever to help, and Billy the floor manager on the 15th floor was exceptional, in manner and kindness.
clean, very helpfull staff
none
- Nightlife Tip : Go to the Bar named Guitar Man near night bazzar for some impromptu music, or Roadside restaurant and bar by the river Ping for some great live music

Have been to Chiang Mai many times and have often thought would like to try out the Imperial M.P. Ok well been there done that won't be staying there again. The superior rooms are very cramped, their "double bed" means pushing the two single beds together which makes the room even smaller. The lobby has a very musty smell, like a room that hasn't been aired for a long time. The only good thing about the hotel is that it is close to the night bazaar and has a really good laundry service across the road. Also I distinctly said I wanted a non-smoking room but the whole floor and our room had a stale smoke smell... not sure if it was a language barrier or the guy at reception misheard...
Two swimming pools. Smaller pool on the 2nd floor gets more sun.
Stayed in a superior room which was tiny for a 4 star hotel.
- Hotel Feature Tip : Do your laundry at the place with the man smiling opposite the hotel. They also sell interesting noodles which have made it into the Lonely Planet.

Best hotel we went in Thailand! The location of the hotel is great- near the night bazaar. We had such a good time - if we will be in Chang maybe we will go there again. The staff is great help in everything and they do it with a smile on their faces. The atmosphere of the hotel is really great- from the flowers in the lobby to the sand with name of the day of the week in the ashtray near every elevator. Great breakfast- with all the food you can dream about and everything is so tasty!
The staff is so kind and helpful, they help you even when you don't ask them. Again, they are super kind people.
The price of the spa is a little high (but that is because it's a high standard hotel) outside the hotel there are cheaper spas.
- Restaurant Tip : Don't drink tap water- meaning don't drink from a glass with ice.
