The hotel is also near the BTS sky train line, thereby providing guests easy access to the various shopping centers and markets that Bangkok is famous for. All 172 luxuriously appointed Suites and 4 Heavenly Comfortable Penthouses provide panoramic views of the Bangkok skyline. Units range from 45sqm to 220sqm suites and include stocked kitchens and in-room internet service. Diamond Lounge
From 11am to midnight guests take comfort in the Diamond Lounge on the ground floor. It’s the perfect place to rendezvous for a coffee and nibble before starting the day, a cocktail, or night-cap and late-night snack. A jazz band performs at 6pm-10pm each night.
Tea Chew Shark Fin Restaurant
The resident chef from Hong-Kong infuses all of his dishes with authentic Cantonese flavor in this two-story elegant restaurant. Though famous for dishes such as braised shark fin with crab meat, superior shark fin soup, and monk jump over the wall, a large variety of other traditional Chinese dishes are available. Offered daily is an “all you can eat” dim sum buffet lunch. Open daily 11:30am-2:30pm and 6pm-11pm.
Thai House Massage
Thai House Massage Located on the 9th floor and on the ground floor is the very popular and spacious (10 private treatment rooms and 20 foot-massage chairs) Thai Massage House. Famous for oil massage as well as traditional Thai massage (a must do for out of towners), guests can also enjoy foot reflexology, European showers, aromatherapy, or use of their shower and changing rooms all at very reasonable prices. In-room massage can also be arranged on request. Open daily 11:00am-1:00am.
Grand Diamond Penthouse
220sqm. The penthouse duplex is the jewel in the crown, 29 floors above Bangkok. The views are enhanced by the extra high ceilings of the three-bedroom, 4-bathroom, apartment. The main space features an elegant dining table, and a large living room area with entertainment center. The large terrace comes equipped with dining table and extra-large Jacuzzi. If shopping is your thing, this is the hotel for you. The plethora of venues for shopping abound in this hotel. The hotel itself is showing its age, but is still acceptable for its 3 to 3.5 stars based on my own assessment. The rooms are clean and have all the amenities one would look for. It was great to have a microwave, a refrigerator, and 2-burner electric stove at your disposal, plus a fax/phone and a wide screen LCD screen in the living area as well.
The breakfast buffet spread was fantastic, although I should give a warning to Westerners that the spread includes a "PORK SECTION"....
Service was spotty as observed in other reviews particularly at the Front Desk. The staff who swiped my card at check-in, damaged my card, rendering it unusable. It was good that I was offered an apology. The two female staff on duty always seemed harrassed and could only offer a perfunctory smile every so often. The same was observed in the coffee shop and the doormen.
Being that it is not under management of an international chain, many aspects of the service and facilities reflected this.
Having said all this, I would stay again at this hotel, if the purpose of my trip is shopping. However, I would strongly recommend getting a room in the back side of the hotel, even if they offer you twin beds instead of a king size bed, if only to get away from the noise on the street.
Great location for shopping. To the right of the hotel is the Platinum Mall and to the left is the IT Mall. Across the hotel are the street lined stalls at Pratunam, and a few minutes away is Central World Plaza
Noisy street. Based on previous reviews, I specifically requested a room in a quiet side of the hotel. Given a choice between a room with twin beds on the rear part of the hotel, I choise a room with a king size bed on the 20th floor. If you're a light sleeper like I am, you can still hear cars and motorcycles wheezing by the busy street
- Restaurant Tip : If you want to try excellent local food, take a cab down to the Fruit Market across from Chatuchak (ORTOKOR is the Thai name, pronounced, OH-TOH-KOH). They're open 7am-7pm. Local street food is available in a cleaner, more sanitary environment.

The Grand Diamond was my choice from the photos from the Agoda website. The rooms looked very nice and the price was quite reasonable for what I thought was for a nice room. However, when I arrived, the hotel was quite shabby and when I went to the "Suite Room" that I had booked, I was most disappointed. The room was small and nothing like what they advertise on the internet.
Further to this they were even trying to save costs by not cooling the elevators and hallways that were most uncomfortable after a days shopping!
It seems that the Grand Diamond is suffering from money problems and trying to cut corners and save money where ever possible as well as trying to deceive guests as to what there product is actually like.
There is much better available in Bangkok for cheaper too!
