Location wise this hotel is excellent if you are on a shopping holiday, since it is in central Orcahrd road and 5 minutes walk to all the large malls. It is also across the street from the Mount Elizabeth hospital, so for those who are in Singapore for medical check ups etc, this hotel is perfect.

I stayed at the Meritus Mandarin for 5 nights from 27th June to 2nd July and was very happy with my choice. The location is excellent with the hotel bang in the centre of Orchard Road and with malls and eating places right next to it. No problem of taxis from the hotel. Our room in south tower was spacious and clean. The staff are curteous, polite and efficient.

Basically the hotel is fine but I personally don`t think it deserves a five-star hotel rating with many of its new furniture getting worn down pretty quickly by constant in-flow of tenants. Put it this way: the hotel is always full 24/7! There is also a shortage of staff attending to whatever the tenants need or require making its service efficiency drop drastically. It took them(porter) 20 minutes to bring up my luggages when I check-in and 15 minutes to bring down for check-out! Furthermore there is a riduculously high charge for internet broadband usage where it is supposed to be free giving the hotel excellent profits due to its fully-booked status. JW Marriot hotel has a free internet broadband service to all its tenants, why can`t this hotel do the same?? It has already raked in millions of dollars per month after tax and still manage to put up a charge for this service. I won`t be staying at this hotel again for sure and trust me stay away from this greedy hotel at all cost.

Was fabulous! Great location right in the middle of Orchard road. The room was very clean and very comfortable. The service was 5 star! Would definitely stay here again!

The non-smoking room provided was a very good upgrade with a magnificent view on the 32nd floor. The room-service menu (menu-only) is very limited and not up to standards - variety is needed. Still, this is our favourite hotel after five years.
