In conclusion, I still find that Federal Hotel is a good choice because it has good access to public transports - monorail & taxi, and near by shopping complex. I can shop for half a day & go back for some rest and shop again until late night. Better to take public transport in the town area to avoid traffic jam.
The hotel staff is very friendly & breakfast is good.
Location is good.
I need to park my car at Low Yat Plaza, which caused some inconvenience.

it is not bad for a 4 star hotel, perfectly located, lots of variety of shops, cafes and restaurants near by. Room rates are not bad, compared to few other same rated hotels. Great Japanese restaurant within the hotel, which is worth trying, otherwise, the location of the hotel is well worth the stay.

My experience at the Federal is simply not one I would choose to repeat.
My stay was luckily for one evening only.
The revolving restaurant, worth visiting for the views and the friendly and attentive staff.
Room upgraded and was quite large.
Where to start:
Check-in was slow;
Insufficient and inattentive staff;
Smell of stale cigarette smoke encountered upon entering the room;
Cockroach encountered when attempting to make a cup of coffee, also cutlery was dirty;
Bed sheets were soiled;
Bathtub was unclean;
Air-Con switch could not be adjusted so the room was cold all evening.
