Without a doubt, this was the nicest place to stay in Battambang. The first night we had a very comfortable but slightly funky room at the very top of the house. For the remainder of our stay we were upgraded to a huge room on the main floor of this lovely and stately home from the French colonial era. The French owner was an interesting man and a good host. The restaurant was the best in town.

As its name suggests this is a converted French colonial villa, refurbished with great charm by a young Frenchman and his Vietnamese wife. It is simple -- six rooms, with no phone or TV but with a/c, and decoration throughout of colonial memorabilia. The rooms are spacious, the laundry and wine charges very reasonable. It is the other side of the river from the town centre, necessitating a hair-raising walk across a narrow bridge used by both pedestrians and motos. Shame, too, about the rubbish tip next door. But a place of great charm and friendly staff. Warmly recommended.

It was such a pleasure to arrive at La Villa hotel after quite a long bus journey. It provides a haven of comfort and elegance. There are no mass produced hotel trimmings to be found at La Villa. It is a beautifully restored house which has been tastefully furnished, providing a different and memorable hotel experience. Hotel staff were very pleasant, helpful and friendly. We would welcome the opportunity to stay there again.
