Casablanca, the largest city in Morocco, may have been made famous by Humphrey Bogart but in reality, the city is a thriving and efficient business location. Casablanca is synonymous with wealth, style and big-city variety. Casablanca's excellent business credentials and its Hollywood immortality make it North Africa's most visited city. Casablanca is now the largest port of the Maghreb. Casablanca is much like any other large southern European city.
Moroccan music has to be experienced. It is a unique blend of Spanish classical music and modern styles from the West and elsewhere with the original Arab-African local style. However, women (and men) should bear in mind that Islam is the predominant religion here and in accordance with this, should try and keep dance as modest as possible.
Casablanca has the reputation of being the best place to eat in Morocco, and if you can afford the fancier restaurant prices, this is certainly true. There are fine seafood restaurants along the Corniche at Aon Diab and the bays beyond. On a budget, there's little problem in finding good-value meals or snacks.
